Another wonderful introduction to the orchestra can be found in 20th century composer Benjamin Britten’s work, “A Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra.” This is written as a theme and variations. The theme is by Henry Purcell and Britten wrote variations upon it to highlight different sections of the orchestra.
