Our Trip Around the World
Update: We did it! We studied every country from 2020 to 2024!
What’s next? I’ll be updating the blog and going through it all again with my younger two. They are currently in 4th and 6th grades.
It all started in 2020
In 2020, we threw out the textbooks and started on a quest to study every country of the world by reading diverse, living stories written by people who have grown up or lived in the culture. Letting the content of the book lead the way, we followed up with art projects, STEM learning, music activities, animal science connections, cooking the food of the country, map work, and so on. Now THIS is the geography curriculum that works for us.
After I figured out our process, I started compiling our favorite activities into elementary homeschool geography curriculum units to share with you.
We like to focus on one country at a time. My “A Book A Day” series presents four things to do each day: a short blurb to read aloud, a picture book to enjoy, a video to watch, and a related activity to lock it all in. My goal in every study is to point you to the best books and supporting videos. Immerse yourself in the beauty of each culture!

Thanks for checking out my page! I love to travel and learn about other cultures, and I created this website to share that with you.
Our goal is to “travel” to each country through books, cooking, art, and music. In our homeschool, I have twins in 5th grade, one in 2nd grade, and one in Kindergarten. We have been homeschooling the elementary years since 2017 but I have always had them home with me (and that’s a wild ride!) My hope is that this content is helpful to you and blesses your family.
My passion and educational backgrounds are in elementary education and music, specifically in piano performance and pedagogy.
I began creating curriculum for our World Studies in 2022, called “A Book A Day.” I choose diverse living books, find relevant youtube videos, and create fun activities across a variety of subjects.
