North and Central America

(these countries of Central America are still being updated)

We started our country studies in 2020 with Canada and Mexico, using My Father’s World: Exploring Countries and Cultures.

South America

It did not sit well with me that Brazil was the only country that was scheduled for South America. We decided to study every country in South America, and this started our adventure around the world. South America took us 12 weeks, one country per week, because the libraries were still shut down. I did check out the books for the kids to browse through later.

Europe

The libraries reopened right as we started our study of Europe. We spent the rest of the 2020-2021 school year exploring the countries of Europe through huge stacks of picture books.

Asia

(these countries are still being updated)

Wow there are so many countries in Asia! We took about a year and a half (the rest of 2021, all of 2022, and half of 2023) to go through these countries, with the exception of the countries in Southwestern Asia (the Middle East). These we saved for last and explored in the fall of 2024.

Africa

(these countries are still being updated)

After spending about four months (the fall of 2023) learning about the countries of Central America, we finally started on Africa at the end of 2023. It took about year to study Africa and Southwestern Asia (the Middle East). Happily, these country studies coincided with our Ancient History studies.
