We spent the month of December reading these legends of Merlin and Arthur. The perfect book for us was Christmas in Camelot from the Magic Tree House series.

Short Chapter Books about Merlin and Arthur
I read these aloud to my 7 and 9 year olds. They were a great introduction to the legends.
Magic Tree House books about Arthur and Camelot:
We did these on audiobook and they were really fun. Annie and Jack receive missions from Morgan Le Fay and they are all related to King Arthur and Camelot
- Christmas in Camelot
- Night of the Ninth Dragon
- Summer of the Sea Serpent (this one is mainly about a selkie in Ireland)
Middle Grade Chapter Books about Merlin and Arthur
My 7th grade twins read these chapter books about Merlin and Arthur. They were all fantastic!
The first two books of The Once and Future King are on the AmblesideOnline list for 7th grade. I did read The Sword in the Stone and it was totally fine. There’s a bit of caution for The Queen of Air and Darkness and you can read the thoughts from AmblesideOnline about The Once and Future King and The Queen of Air and Darkness.
- Jane Yolen’s Young Merlin Trilogy: Passager, Hobby, Merlin
- The Lost Years: Merlin (this is the first of a larger series, Merlin Saga)
I also let the kids explore this book on their own: King Arthur, Dark Age Warrior and Mythic Hero.
